Nagoya, Japan
Many Japanese travellers know Wellbe Sakae for its sauna first. The capsules came with it. It stands in Sakae, Nagoya's main shopping and nightlife district.
The routine here is the traditional one: heat, cold plunge, rest, repeat. Sauna fans treat the building as a destination in its own right.
Guests sleep in stacked capsule berths, keep their luggage in lockers and share bathing floors. Expect a quiet, orderly house with clear rules.
Naha, Okinawa, Japan
Okinawa is usually sold on beach resorts. This is the other option. Grand Cabin Hotel Naha Oroku offers cabin-style berths in Naha's Oroku area, close to the airport.
Cabins are a step up in size from the classic capsule, with enough room to sit up and sort a bag. A public bath and lounge areas carry the social side of the stay.
It suits a first night after a late flight, or a last one before an early departure.
